Goddess Test Playlist
If you’ve read some of the interviews I’ve done, especially ones that ask about playlists for the Goddess Test series, you probably know that I don’t make playlists. Which is kind of weird, because ten years ago, I made playlists for everything. Every story had a main song, and I always found others that connected as well.
Lately I’ve gotten back in the groove of things – I’ve been connecting songs to stories in my head, and it’s a ton of fun. I’ve started to go through my music and compile a playlist for the Goddess Test series, and while I only have a few so far, I’d love to get more. Over the past year and a half, so many of you have commented about songs that were perfect for Henry and Kate or other members of the Goddess Test series, and I’d love your input.
So here are my top two picks for the Goddess Test playlist. Feel Again by OneRepublic SCREAMS Henry to me, and Someone Like You by Adele (I know, I know) is, to me, the perfect Henry/Persephone song. (And to be all hipster about it, I thought this way before SLY was a single and exploded in popularity). What are some songs that you think fit the series perfectly?

My prediction is…ahem *clears throat*
Henry gets mad and goes looking for Kate. Kate, who is pregnant is discovering epic powers, makes the deal with Cronus. Kate has the baby but then maybe gets “killed” by cronus for betraying him (in front of everybody) and then “everybody gets mad….
then Cronus threatens them all, and then KATE BECOMES AWESOME AND GETS POWERFUL AND DEFEATS CRONUS ALL BY HERSELF!!!!!!
she also forgives calliope and they become friends and punishes zeus for being mean to her.
then they keep the baby and live happily ever after!!! 🙂 yay!!!! 🙂 🙂
nice prediction but i deff think henrey gets mad and kate defeats cronus with her new found powers and then they save kate and then she has the baby in the palace and then they name the baby which i think is going to be a boy so henry has an heir, and i think the babys name should be aiden i dont know why but thats the name i think of when i read the end of goddess interupted and the back cover of inheritance
I think the baby should be a girl. I don’t know why, but the idea of the “big, scary, Lord of the Underworld” with a little girl cracks me up!
I agree, that sounds cute, and the boy would have too much pressure on his back for ruling the underworld!
My friend and I think it should be a boy because it will be Henry’s heir And the name the name that rings loud and clear for me is Aiden don’t ask me why but I does. So ya that’s what I have to say bye for now
Yeah, maybe, but think about it: Henry’s a god. He’s immortal. He can’t die (well, he COULD die, but he won’t, cause what kind of an ending would that be?). Why would he really need a heir? (Sorry, don’t mean to argue, but I have this thing about making my opinion heard loud and clear.)
Well not exactly his heir but like I really can’t explain it. It’s really confusing but I don’t no I think that it should be a boy. He would be prince of the underworld I thought that was a good idea.
I’m not saying it’s a bad idea. I really actually kind of like it. Honestly, I’ll be happy either way. I just kind of want the baby to be a girl. I can’t really explain why either. 🙂

Omigosh I know, right?! There’s no way I can survive until February (then again, if I could wait for the Doctor Who premiere, I can probably wait for Goddess Inheritance)!

Oh, I’ve read them who knows how many times, told all my friends about them, got a few friends addicted to them, and got my little sister to read them (even though I normally wouldn’t want her to read a YA book, I think The Goddess Test is okay) just so I’ll have someone else I can talk about them to.

I hope you don’t mind foreign music, but I think FTIsland’s “Bad Woman” captures Calliope’s pain — both internal and what she causes to other people.
And then for something local, “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica for Kate. And “Reckless” by Papa Roach for Henry.
Ok, so when I read the part about Feel Again, I thought hmm.. Idk.. Then, went to iTunes and bought the song and listened to it; I completely agree with you now. It sort I seems like the song was made for Henry. About half way through, I was like that is the definition of what Henry felt when he met Kate… He can feel again!! I swear, there are so many similarities in the song to The Goddess Test it is insane!

Okay I know a lot of people don’t like country but I think a couple of songs would be perfect for Calliope and Kate in regards to Henry. For Calliope “What I really meant to say” by Cyndi Thomson would be a perfect “I’m still in love with you but I’m not going to tell you” love-song. For Kate “It matters to me” by Faith Hill because I think it portrays her emotions about needing to hear Henry say he wants her to stay because he does love her.
Home from beauty and the beast describes Kate’s feelings when she first goes to live with Henry in tgt PERFECTLY!!!
I like “Some Hearts” by Carrie Underwood for a Henry song (but I don’t really know WHY). “Behind These Hazel Eyes” by Kelly Clarkson fits really well for him just after Persephone left, even if he doesn’t have hazel eyes. So do “Breakeven” and “Nothing,” both by the Script. Also, I think “Dark Side” by Kelly Clarkson is a good one. “Untouchable” by Taylor Swift kind of describes how Henry is at the beginning of their relationship, and so does”Begin Again” by, again, Taylor Swift. “Jump Then Fall,” also by Taylor Swift, describes how Kate felt once she realized she loved Henry. “Come In With the Rain” by Taylor Swift (yeah, I know, another Taylor Swift song) is a good song to describe how Kate feels when she tells Henry she’s leaving, and “All Too Well” (Okay, it’s ANOTHER Taylor Swift song, but she IS an AWESOME songwriter) describes how she’s feeling when she comes back from Greece and nothing’s the same with Henry. Right, well, that’s all I can think of at the moment, but I’m sure 20 more will pop up in my head as soon as I post this.
DARK SIDE OMG PERFFFFF!!! I was actually just listening to that on the radio the other day and it COMPLETELY reminded me of Henry. I was explaining to my mom how it was related to the book and she just looked at me like I was nuts. Hahahahahaha

I think if I can’t love her from beauty and the beast as a Henry song, and home (also from beauty and the beast) as a song to describe Kate’s feelings when she first arrives at Eden manor and still doesn’t know what to think of Henry.
I have completelt dreamed about these books as a movie and what the music would be. I think, I won’t give up by jason marz as metioned above would be perfect, and I love someone like you and feel again lots too! I will look through by music and see if i can find more!
P.S. if anyone needs help making a movie script for this, I am all game for helping!

when i read these books on my ipad, i would listen to songs. i would hear these songs and think that it really fit well for the book. Take It All, Don’t You Remember, I’ll be Waiting, and He Won’t Go, all by Adele. I would picture them all with Kate looking to Henry in the distance, off fighting, or Kate pleading with Henry. 🙂
i know this is way late but the song The Tip of my Tongue by The Civil wars fits with Henry the best when he started to fall for Kate
